TASTE SAFE PLAY DOUGH RECIPE (2024)

NO SALT TASTE SAFE PLAY DOUGH DIY

I promise this is a very different play dough recipe from my previous ones. I know some of you have trouble getting cream of tartar so here is your alternative. It is also salt free, making it a great baby’s first play dough. This dough is super soft and not grainy at all. The corn starch provides the softness that the cream of tartar would and the lime juice acts as an alternative preservative to salt.

Try making this homemade, taste safe, no salt, play dough recipe that is a better alternative for younger toddlers and babies!

MATERIALS:

  1. 1 cup all purpose flour

  2. 1 cup corn starch

  3. 2 tbsp vegetable oil

  4. 1 cup boiling water

  5. 2 tbsp lime juice

  6. Food coloring

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Add flour and the corn starch to a medium bowl. Mix well.

  2. Add the oil but don’t mix it yet.

  3. Add the lime juice and food coloring to the 1 cup of boring water.

  4. Pour it into the bowl and start mixing immediately. Mix until it all comes together.

  5. Once its cold enough to touch, take it out and mend with your hands. You want to mend it while warm.

  6. To store, place in a plastic zip bag, on an air tight container, or wrap tightly with wrapping paper and store in the refrigerator. It should be good for about 6 months, do check before each use just in case.

Tip: If it is too sticky after it is completely cooled down, add some more flour one tbsp at a time.
