Hey I was checking a previous thread about changing a watch face for a family member who doesn’t have an iPhone.
The accepted answer was to show them how to edit on their watch.
another alternative, that I prefer, is to use the watch app on your phone.
- select YOUR watch
- browse the face gallery and choose a face to edit
- edit to your heart’s content (but limit complications to those available on your family member’s watch
- when done, hit the share button in the top of the screen
- share with your family member via messages
- your family member can add that watch face right from messages on their watch
Let me know if there are any better ideas.

Brilliant! Thanks for posting this. It’s been a struggle teaching my mom to change her watch faces. She’s got it now, but this would’ve helped when I was setting her up. Now at least I can do a photo watch face for her or one I think has features she needs.
*edit* Aha! You can also share a watch face directly from your watch. On the edit screen hit the share icon, select the person in iMessages. They click on the pictured watch face sent if they want it.
