Happy National Popcorn day! We LOVE popcorn at our house, because of our weekly family movie nights we enjoy popcorn all the timeand we love trying new flavors. When I was in California at Universal Studios I tried out a popcorn store and they had one they called “churro popcorn”. It was AMAZING!
SO I just HADto make my own! A cinnamon crunchy shell and sprinkled with a cinnamon sugar mixture. It tastes AMAZING and the kiddo’s LOVED it. It’s delicious with JUST the candy coating, but sprinkling the cinnamon and sugar makes it more churro like.

Ingredients
- 9 C batch homemade popped popcorn
- 1/4 C butter
- 1/4 C packed light brown sugar
- 1/4 C light corn syrup
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 drops cinnamon candy flavor
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- cinnamon sugar mixture
US Customary - Metric
Instructions
Preheat oven to 270 F.
Place the popped popcorn in an oven safe bowl
In a saucepan melt the butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and salt
On Medium/High bring the to a boil and keep boiling until the temperature reaches 270
Remove from heat and carefully stir in cinnamon flavoring, then baking soda.
Working quickly, pour over popcorn stirring to coat.
To help the mixture stay warm so you can get an even coat place the bowl into the oven, stirring every 5 mins 3-4 times
Spread the popcorn out onto a pan and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture
Let the mixture cool, then break into pieces and serve
