What Is
Bruschetta (pronounced broo-sket-ta) is a slice of bread toasted in the oven or grilled, often rubbed with garlic and topped with extra-virgin olive oil, tomatoes and salt.
How To
To make a good bruschetta, be careful in portioning out the ingredients that can moisten the bread (like tomatoes) so that the toast does not get soggy and lose its crispness.
Italian Tradition
This recipe originated in Tuscany, but is enjoyed throughout Italy and made with local ingredients. It can be served as an informal appetizer and is essential when serving a good grilled meat.
