Auf Samsung-Smartphones ist seit dem Samsung Galaxy S8 ein Sprachassistent vorinstalliert: Bixby. Dieser funktioniert ähnlich wie die bekannten Assistenten Siri (Apple), Cortana (Windows) oder der Google-Assistant. Um die Bixby-App zu nutzen, muss Ihr Smartphone mindestens das Betriebssystem Android 9.0 Pie haben. Der Assistent ist auch für Samsung-Tablets und -Smartwatches verfügbar.
So aktivieren Sie Bixby und das kann es
Sie können Bixby auf verschiedene Arten aktivieren: Mit einer Wischgeste, indem Sie auf die Bixby-App tippen oder die Bixby-Taste an Ihrem Gerät drücken. Bixby Home ist sozusagen der Startbildschirm des Assistenten mit einer Übersicht über mehrere Funktionen. Die Anordnung der Kacheln auf diesem Startbildschirm können Sie selbst ändern.
Bixby Voice bezeichnet die Sprachassistenz-Funktion. Per Spracherkennung können Sie dem Assistenten Fragen stellen oder Befehle erteilen, Bixby kann mittlerweile auch deutsch. Aktivieren können Sie ihn mit dem Satz "Hi Bixby" oder indem Sie die Bixby-Taste gedrückt halten.
Bixby Vision fasst alle Funktionen zusammen, die mit Bilderkennung zu tun haben. So können Sie etwa einen Gegenstand oder ein Foto davon vor die Kamera halten und Bixby zeigt Ihnen, wo Sie dieses Produkt kaufen können. Sie können damit auch Texte übersetzen, QR-Codes scannen oder sich Informationen zu Sehenswürdigkeiten anzeigen lassen.
Bixby Reminder funktioniert ähnlich wie ein Kalender. Sie können dort Termine speichern und sich daran erinnern lassen oder sich zum Beispiel einen Wecker stellen.
Mithilfe einer zusätzlichen Samsung-App (SmartThings) können Sie Bixby auch mit Ihrem Smarthome koppeln. So können Sie per Bixby zum Beispiel das Licht dimmen oder die Heizung anmachen. Da Samsung auch Haushaltsgeräte herstellt, können Sie Bixby ab Version 2.0 auch mit solchen Geräten koppeln, um diese zu steuern. Dann können Sie Bixby zum Beispiel bitten, den Fernseher anzuschalten oder Ihren Staubsaugerroboter zu starten.

Some people aren't big fans of Bixby Voice — Google Assistant is much more helpful in specific scenarios — and luckily, there's an easy way to turn it off.
If Bixby is not responding when you say “Hi, Bixby,” there are a few things you can do to improve the voice command accuracy. You can try removing your voice recording, adding a new voice recording, and then changing the sensitivity setting. This way, Bixby will always be able to hear your voice.
When you receive a call, answer it, and then tap Bixby text call or Text call in the Phone app.Then, swipe up on the green Answer icon. If you're making a call, you can tap Bixby text call when the other person answers. Bixby will let the caller know you are using an automated voice.

If Bixby keeps accidentally waking up on your phone, you can adjust the options for the Bixby button or Side button. While you can't uninstall Bixby entirely, you can remove your Bixby account and data from your phone. Once this is done, to register Bixby again you will need to set it up.
What sets Bixby apart from its counterparts is its always-listening capability, making it an ever-ready helper. Bixby's active listening feature allows users to invoke its assistance without any manual activation, completely hands-free.
However, Bixby does offer some unique capabilities through Bixby Vision and Bixby App Routines that Google lacks. Bixby Vision enables visual searches via the camera for shopping, travel, and more. Bixby Routines allows users to automate device settings and actions.
While you can't uninstall Bixby entirely, you can remove your Bixby account and data from your phone. Once this is done, to register Bixby again you will need to set it up. Press and hold the Side button. You can customize the Side button to activate the Power off menu instead of Bixby Voice.
When you ask, “How's the weather today?”, Bixby immediately converts your voice to text and deletes your voice data. Voice data is encrypted and sent to the server only for learning purposes with your permission.
